A Conversation with the Attorney General

NoticeConnect founder Patrick Hartford had the opportunity yesterday to chat with Ontario's Attorney General, the Hon. Caroline Mulroney, at the Legal Innovation Zone in downtown Toronto.

Patrick spoke with Ms. Mulroney about how NoticeConnect has changed how notices to creditors are published and how it has saved the Ontario government money. He also provided a demo of NoticeConnect's upcoming Canada Will Registry.

As print newspaper readership continues to decline, there's an increasingly important role for government in updating out-of-date legislation that relies on print newspapers to communicate important information. Many statutes at the federal and provincial levels require businesses, municipalities, and trustees to publish expensive print ads.

Modernizing these statues can save governments and businesses millions of dollars each year, while better connecting important information with the public. A national will registry will also benefit the public by ensuring that estates are administered properly, and preventing conflicts that would otherwise end up in court.
